It seems that the town’s election season is getting into gear. The town hall is posting hagiographic Facebook messages, and the retiring councillors are announcing their re-election campaigns…
Cllrs Forest, Bonatakis and Jannone were unlucky enough to draw the short straw so are now fund-raising for their much-anticipated November coronations, not that NJ Realtors don’t look after them.
I sense Cllr Cassidy may be lacking enthusiasm. But no matter, the young bloods are champing at the bit for a chance to insult the community.
Not that any elections will prove much of an ordeal. The last Asbury Park “non-partisan” elections saw Vin Gopal’s slate re-instated against a token opposition and an appallingly low turn-out. I shouldn’t expect Red Bank to be much different.
And with the town hall on their side, it should be a shoo-in…
