All Aboard?

Average Daily Boarding: Years 1980-2022 here… (.pdf)

Maybe just a small clue to understanding New Jersey Transit‘s desperation to impose a “transit village” on our cool little town.

Passenger usage at the station has crashed since pre-COVID levels. The latest figures available show that the number of users boarding per day is still less than half the volume in 2019. Even then numbers were steadily falling to below 1000/day.

So why are our council and their pet YIMBYs so invested in this NJT/ Denholtz scheme? Why do private investment management companies count more than community?

There are better ways to build community, infrastructure and effective transit. Why has this mayor and council (and NJT) never looked at those?

Aging stock… falling passenger numbers… Red Bank’s problem, or New Jersey’s?
